Bioactive Secondary Metabolites from Plant Sources: Types, Synthesis, and Their Therapeutic Uses
نویسندگان
چکیده
Plants are the source of various photochemicals; metabolites used in medicinal and environmental sectors as well being widely commercial pharmaceutical products. Although they produce a number products, either already on market or under trial, amounts obtained from plant sources very minute difficult to synthesize at an industrial level due complex chemical composition chirality exhibited by these compounds. However, cell cultures offer good alternative for consistent production desired secondary influence precursors elicitors. In this review, we discuss aspects metabolites, synthesis, medical products sources.

Column chromatography of the light petroleum fraction from the methanolic extract of the stem bark of Salix tetrasperma Roxb. (Salicaceae) resulted in the isolation of beta-sitosterol acetate, friedelin, 3beta-friedelinol, beta-amyrin, beta-sitosterol, beta-sitosterol-O-glucoside in addition to palmitic acid. From the dichloromethane fraction of the leaves, catechol and tremulacin were isolated...

Plants are eminent source of new therapeutic agents that helps to alleviate human ailments and promote health. The noteworthy preventive and protective properties of these substances are related to their strong antioxidative, antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic potential. Among these, alkaloids are important secondary metabolites that are known to possess curative properties and are of prime imp...
متن کاملBiochemistry of plant secondary metabolites and their effects in animals.
Plant secondary metabolites, which include a wide variety of phytochemicals, have always been constituents of the diets of man and other animals. Although a high proportion of these phytochemicals have been considered to be of little value in plants (although this view is changing), they have frequently been shown to have adverse effects on animals when ingested. The effects depend to a great e...
متن کاملBioactive egg components and their potential uses
Hen egg plays a crucial role in the development of embryonic bird. It serves first as source of energy and nutriments of high digestibility and, second, protects embryonic bird against external aggressions. The unique structure of egg with yolk containing the embryo surrounded by albumen and shell as physical barriers is the first element of this protection. The second one consists in the pecul...
